Boulder Housing Partners ( BHP ) is a quasi-governmental housing authority committed to long-term affordability in their mission to provide housing for low and moderate-income members of our community. BHP currently rents over 1000 homes and provides rental assistance to an additional 600 households. BHP fosters a healthy sense of community in every property they develop or manage.
Our site plan concept organizes all residential buildings around a Central Green which is connected to the housing units via common walks, the Green and comprises a number of active and passive elements. With over 70 children on this site, a playground is a central feature of the green as is a hardscape central plaza immediately off of the centrally located Community Center.
The new 26 unit building at 3120 Broadway is used to shield the Central Green from Broadway traffic. A raised outdoor courtyard is provided on the East side of the 3120 building looking east over the Central Green. A raised pedestrian walkway is used to connect this courtyard with the Green and is located to minimize conflict with automobile traffic. The goal is to unify the new 3120 building with the existing housing through a strong connection with the Central Green by means of a raised pedestrian walkway that leads to the central plaza area and centrally located Community Center. Residential units in the new 3120 Broadway building have private patios or balconies.
