CONTEMPORARY CRAFTSMAN

This single-family residence is located on a small lot on a ridge overlooking downtown Boulder. The clients were looking for a design solution to optimize the property’s fabulous views of Boulder’s Flatirons while creating a contemporary craftsman style home that playfully explores the use of numerous exterior materials.

The home’s friendly streetscape with a columned porch and inviting entrance, was preserved by placing the garage around the side of the building. The south side of the home opens up with an abundance of glass to capture the views of Boulder and the Flatirons from the interior. The use of warm-toned, heavy beams and columns attached by detailed steel connectors gives a welcoming rhythm to the living spaces, while the stone in the fireplace wall and dining room adds additional warmth and texture.
