CHAUTAUQUA PARK SHINGLE

This residence is tucked in at the end of a street on a wooded lot adjacent to Boulder’s historic Chautauqua Park. The design is a reinterpretation of an East Coast shingle-style house in the context of the historic park, which is graced with an eclectic collection of cedar-shingled cottages and a performance hall. The street facade is a composition of asymmetrical gabled forms, sheathed by warm cedar shingles and large double-hung windows. The shingles gracefully slope over the top of a rough-laid Telluride stone base that visually anchors the home into the site. Other features include a collection of circular character windows with an eyebrow dormer providing light to an upper bathroom.
